Glenda Stringfield Hancock, native of Bogalusa and resident of Greenwell Springs, La., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 23, 2015. She was born on Jan. 15, 1942, along with her twin sister, Gloria. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge but still held on to her enduring relationship with her previous church family in Greenwell Springs. She has been active singing in many Baptist churches and loved nothing more than to sing God’s praises.

She was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and aunt. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a true and faithful servant of and for God.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry J. Stringfield; her parents, Ruben and Evelyn Penton; sister, Joyce P. McDaniel; and brother, Robert L. Penton.

She is survived by her husband of 2 1/2 joyful years, Carl Lee Hancock; her children, Tracy and Mike Rivet and Alison and Ken Alsept; grandchildren, Ashtyn Rivet, Wade Rivet, Hayden Alsept and Connor Alsept; sisters, Sydney and Albert Hughes and Gloria and John McKenzie; stepson, Lee and Pam Hancock; and all of their families.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and will resume on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at 9 a.m. until funeral service, conducted by Pastor Oren Conner at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at McGehee cemetery in Bogalusa. The pallbearers will be Mike Rivet, Ken Alsept, Wade Rivet, Chad Gauthier, Lee Hancock and John Williams. The honorary pallbearers are Hayden Alsept and Connor Alsept.
