Walter Thomas

Walter Fred Thomas, 77, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Lucille Thomas; two sisters, Jean Branch of Tylertown, Miss., and Georgia Hughes of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Caron Taylor and Cathy Sullivan; and seven grandchildren.

Born and raised near Tylertown, the son of the late Walter Fred Thomas Sr. and Margaret Kennedy, he was currently living in Mount Juliet, Tenn. In his early years, he joined the Army and served a year in Korea. He worked and retired from Texaco Oil Company. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. He was a faithful husband and loved his family. He was a wonderful example as a loyal husband, hard worker and devoted family man. He loved the Lord and his life was a reflection of that.

Funeral services will be held at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, with visitation on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Pine Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at 10 a.m., with burial at Pine Community Cemetery to follow.
