Happy Mardi Gras everybody.

That’s right, it’s the final weekend of Mardi Gras.

In Bogalusa, that means one thing, excitement in the Magic City.

Why? Because the Magic City Carnival Association takes to the streets of the Magic City tomorrow.

This is the 35th year of the parade, and the planners have another great day scheduled.

The theme is MCCA Salutes the Classics. You’ll see floats like Madam Butterfly, Last of the Mohicans, Gone with the Wind, Lonesome Dove, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Treasure Island, Huck Finn, Julius Caesar, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland.

Richard Jenkins is the king and Deni Black is the queen with WWL TV anchor Eric Paulsen serving as the parade’s Grand Marshal.

The group has added even more excitement to an already great parade this year. The Southern University Marching Band, nicknamed the Human Jukebox, will also be performing.

To make things better, it looks like Mother Nature will cooperate as well.

As of Wednesday, www.weather.com is forecasting perfect weather Saturday at 68 degrees during the day with no chance of rain.

So head on out to see MCCA, tell your friends about it and show off your Bogalusa pride. And for more on the annual spectacle, look for The Daily News’ annual MCCA section inside today’s paper.

Remember to be safe and courteous to those around you during the parade.

Have a safe and fun Mardi Gras.
