Corine McClendon

Corine Lena McClendon, age 93, born on June 7, 1921, in Wesson, Miss., passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa.

The last few years of Corine’s life were spent at Resthaven Living Center under the care of nurses and staff whom she quickly grew to love. During her time spent there she enjoyed reminiscing with old friends while making new ones along the way. Corine’s memory will never be forgotten by her children or grandchildren, whether it’s in the kitchen cooking one of her famous “Black Bottom Pies” or trying to perfect her “Secret Biscuit Receipt.” Corine loved the Lord and instilled the importance of faith in Him to everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom D. McClendon; a daughter, Patricia Richardson; her parents, Frank P. Munn and Rachel Boyd Munn; three brothers, Ransom Munn, Luther Munn and Dewitt Munn; and three sisters, Rosalie Raborn, Julie Lee Gerald and Eva Carter

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Foil (Rocky); two sons, John E. McClendon (Janice) and Richard E. McClendon (Sandra); 13 grandchildren, Mark McClendon, Leanne McClendon, Scott McClendon (Jenny), Paige Harper (Doug), Richard E. McClendon Jr., Sara Ivy (Chance), Misty LaBat (Mark), Shane Richardson (Susan), Lisa Hesson (Rodney), Chad Richardson, Kevin Foil (Aimee), Kyle Foil (Allison) and Kelli Clark (Marlon); and 30 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral services were held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fred Brumfield and the Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.
