Funeral services celebrating the life of Claudine McAdams Spurlock will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers in Alexandria, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, with the Rev. Marcus Rosa officiating.

The family requests that visitation be held at Hixson Brothers in Alexandria on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Spurlock, 94, of Alexandria passed from this life on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Marigold House. Mrs. Spurlock was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria and member of the Senior Adult Sunday school class. While living in Bogalusa she was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher, church pianist and member of WMU. She graduated from the University of Montevallo College in Montevallo, Ala., with a degree in home economics. During her working career, she worked as a caseworker and supervisor for the Louisiana Department of Welfare for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Madison Spurlock; parents, Claude Marion and Florence Hackelman McAdams; brothers, Belton McAdams and Aubrey McAdams; sisters, Emily McAdams Connor and Pauline McAdams Pennington; son-in-law, Sidney L. Johnston; and grandson, Michael James Spurlock.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Richard Troy Spurlock and wife, Elaine Quinn Spurlock, and Steven Hayes Spurlock and wife, Cathy Bates Spurlock; daughter, Marion Spurlock Johnston; sister, Vernell Young; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
