A married couple was arrested in Franklinton Thursday for operating a clandestine methamphetamine lab, along with other charges.

John Bailey, 42, and Lisa Bailey, 39, were booked into the Washington Parish Jail Thursday.

“We received information there was illegal activity going on at a residence on Mike Fisher Road. The meth lab was concealed in a duffle bag in a camper trailer at the residence,” Washington Parish Deputy Chief Shannon Lyons said. “They were arrested without incident.”

Lyons said John Bailey is on parole, while his wife is on probation for similar offenses.

“They both have previous convictions for possession of methamphetamines,” Lyons said. “All the ingredients for making methamphetamines were in one spot.”

Other charges the couple was booked with include convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17.

Lyons said the operation was a joint investigation by state’s Office of Probation and Parole and Washington Parish Drug Task Force.

“Meth is a big problem in Washington Parish,” Lyons said. “We investigated this vigorously.”
