Last Friday we highlighted Derrick Dillon’s performance in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Tomorrow, the parish has another one of its own competing in a bowl game, 2011 Franklinton graduate Terrence Magee, a senior at LSU.

The running back, who was the quarterback on Franklinton’s 2010 state title team, is taking part in the 90th East-West Shrine Game.

The contest takes place Jan. 17 at Tropicana Field, the home of Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The contest kicks off at 3 p.m., and it is being broadcast on the NFL Network.

Magee will be playing for the East and wearing No. 15. He is one of two LSU running backs in this game. Kenny Hilliard is also playing in the contest, and Hilliard is wearing No. 27.

This season, Magee ran for 571 yards on 112 carries (5.1 yards per attempt) and three touchdowns.

He also caught 17 passes for 171 yards (10.1 yards per reception).

According to the game’s website, the contest is an important opportunity for the nation’s top college players, giving them a chance to display their talents to a national television audience and more than 300 scouts.

Two players, who have been in the East-West Shine Game, are Tom Brady and Brett Favre.

We wish Magee nothing but the best in this game as he prepares for the NFL Draft, which takes place April 30-May 2.
