Doris Creel

Doris Knight Creel, age 84 and a resident of Pine, died at 7:05 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at the Louisiana Heart Hospital. She was born June 7, 1930. She was member of New Beginning Baptist Church that truly loved her Lord and enjoyed singing her favorite gospel hymns. She was a former CNA for Resthaven Living Center, where she cared deeply for the people she worked with. She was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Miller of Franklinton and Debbie Rester of Pine; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Tammy Rester of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, Joshua Rester, Megan Branch, Justin Rester, Michael Wayne Creel and Mark Creel; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Kennedy of Pine and Laminda Rhoden of Bogalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Creel; her parents, Oscar Knight and Emma O’Berry Knight; sisters, Lillian Carter and Lois Hollenshead; twin brother, Doyle Knight; and brothers, Jack Knight and Talmadge Knight.

Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 29, from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Keith Branch officiating. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery.
