Ethel J. Blackburn

Ethel James Blackburn was born June 25, 1921, to Robert and Louvenia James. She departed this life on Dec. 26, 2014, at her residence in Mt. Hermon.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 67 years, Norman Blackburn Sr.; four daughters, Mae Lazard and Rose White, both of Baton Rouge, Lena (Charles) Brumfield of Kentwood and Ester (Nolan) Carmel of Magnolia, Miss.; two sons, Norman (Bobbie) Blackburn Jr. and Herman (Kim) Blackburn, both of Mt. Hermon; one sister, Marie Brumfield of Mt. Hermon; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet Blackburn and Barience Blackburn; and four brothers, Jake Roy, Lee Charles, Butch and Oscar James.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral in Franklinton, with the Rev. Edward Butler officiating. Interment will be held in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Hermon.
