Mary Ella Boone Dufresne, age 84 and a resident of Destrehan, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Varnado, graduating from VHS and Southeastern Louisiana University. She taught school beginning at VHS and ended her career at Destrehan High School.

Her two sons, Don of Thibodaux and Frank of the Woodlands of Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hayward Boone of Varnado and Dr. Edgar Boone of Raleigh, N.C., survive her.

Her husband, Donald Dufreane; parents, John and Daisy Boone; and sister, Eunice Boone Hearey, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan. Interment will follow in the adjoining mausoleum
