Sexual predators are not always male, and a recent case in Washington Parish involved a female predator.

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detective division was contacted by a concerned parent that her young teenage son had been sexually exploited by a 23-year-old female.

The investigation into the mother’s allegations indicated that not only her son but also another teenage boy had been sexually victimized by a woman identified as Arlesha Shantel Brister, 23, a resident of Louisiana Highway 430 in Franklinton.

Detective Capt. Tommie Sorrell interviewed Brister about the allegations. Brister’s response was to disconnect her telephone and relocate to Tylertown, Miss.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Brister, and she was featured on the Sheriff’s Office website’s Most Wanted page as a fugitive. The following day she was arrested by the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office as a fugitive from justice. Brister was extradited back to Washington Parish.

During interviews following her arrest, Brister acknowledged sexual contact between her and one of the young juveniles. She would not provide details, claiming a medical condition clouded her memory about the full extent of the sexual contact.

Brister remains in the Washington Parish Jail with bond set at $30,000.

“Captain Sorrell and our detective division did an excellent job in this matter,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Brister is now in jail where she belongs. It doesn’t matter if a predator is male or female. The bottom line is the person is a predator and belongs behind bars, far removed from contact with any children.”
