The Washington Area Museum Foundation and Varnado Store Museum in Franklinton have a special treat lined up this Saturday for little girls between the ages of 5 and 10.

The Christmas Teddy Bear Tea Party is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Varnado Store Museum Annex. Participants are requested to wear their prettiest Christmas dress.

“There will be prizes, games and refreshments,” Teddy Bear Tea Party Chairman Beth Bankston said. “Santa Claus will be there for pictures, and they will be able to talk with Santa Claus. They will be able to pick out a gift to take to their momma and daddy.”

The cost is $20 per girl.

“We’ll have old fashioned refreshments like cookies and punch,” Bankston said. “We’ll celebrate like they did in the 1950s.”

Bankston said everybody will sing Christmas songs, including “The Night Before Christmas.”
