Rodney Carl Varnado, age 65 and a resident of Bogalusa, was born on July 13, 1949, and passed away on Nov. 29, 2014, in Slidell.

Rodney worked for the City of Bogalusa for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sanders Varnado of Bogalusa; three daughters, Terri Varnado, Tammi Varnado and Brittany L. Varnado (Chris) Carnegie; three sisters, Lynn (C.W.) Cutrer Sr., Matilda Varnado and Melinda (Jerry) Smith; his brothers-in-law, Bobby, Billy, Roger and Mike Sanders; three grandchildren, Zachary Boone, Hunter Boone and Evan Boone; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

His parents, Carl Wallace “Buck” Varnado and Rose Mary Borde Varnado, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur Ray Sanders and Joyce Hall Sanders, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Dec. 3, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Dec. 4, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Interment is to to follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
