Elizabeth Morris Powell, age 66, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014. She was a native of Mt. Hermon and a resident of Kentwood. Elizabeth was a member of Tickfaw Baptist Church, where she loved to worship and serve the Lord. Elizabeth enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and teaching her daughters how to cook.

She leaves behind her husband, Aubert J. Powell; daughters, Donna Smith Rogers and husband Darryl and Dena Guyn; and sons, William “Scott” Pevey and Richard Powell and wife Carla. She also leaves behind her sisters, Pauline Creel and Belinda “Kay” Creel; brother, Allen Morris; and grandchildren, Jamie McLemore, Jeremiah Danhour, Andrew Peters and wife Monica, Rachel Guyn, Hunter Powell, Haley Fletcher and Victoria Powell.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph and Geraldine Morris; daughter, Debra Smith; grandchildren, Jacob Danhour, Johnnie McLemore and Jordon Danhour; and brother, James Morris.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and again on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. Bro. Sammy Smith will officiate the services, and interment will follow in Shilah Cemetery.
