Approximately 500 turkey dinners went out the door almost as fast as Laurie Stuart and her associates could put them in the hands of those who came by to receive them Tuesday at B & C Hall on Cumberland Street in Bogalusa.

Stuart owns Crossroads Seafood & Grill in Poplarville, Miss. She said the idea for the turkey giveaway came from Crossroads chef Wayne Glidewell. Tuesday was the third year for the turkey dinner giveaway.

“The goal is to go after the people who have to choose between medicine and food,” Stuart said. “Tickets are sold through doctor’s offices and pharmacies. This all started as a dream of my chef. This is his third year to fulfill his dream.”

Glidewell had his children helping hand out food to those who came by as a service project. His children who participated included Ashton, Makenzie and Corbin Glidewell. Volunteers also included Kelly Seal with AMG Specialty Hospital in Bogalusa and LeAnn Miley with Resthaven Living Center, as well as Kaitlyn Cochran, Chris Reynolds and Mark Ambrose.
