Pine volleyball program makes playoffs for very first time

Last week, Ben’s Ford Christian School’s football team played its first playoff game in the program’s history.

Unfortunately, the Eagles lost to Silliman Institute, 40-0, which ended their season.

As tough as it is for your season to end, it was still one of accomplishment, and hopefully the program can use that momentum going into the 2015 campaign.

Around noon on Monday, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association released its volleyball brackets, and for the first time, Pine’s name appeared on a volleyball playoff bracket.

The Lady Raiders made the playoffs as the 18th seeded team and played against No. 15 team Haynes Academy after yesterday’s press time.

As this is being written, we don’t know the result of the match, but what we can say is that it’s been a great season for Pine volleyball.

The Lady Raiders played in one of the toughest districts in the state.

Pine’s district featured a pair of top-five seeds, including No. 1 Pope John Paul II and fifth-seeded Archbishop Hannan.

Pope John Paul II and Hannan both received byes for the bi-district round.

The league also had two teams, Northlake Christian School and St. Thomas Aquinas, in the top 15.

Northlake Christian School made it at No. 11 and St. Thomas Aquinas is the 14th-seeded team.

Congratulations to Pine for making the playoffs in just the fourth year of the program.
