Ruby G. Ard

Ruby Lee Graham Ard, age 97 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Riverside Medical Center. She was born Jan. 31, 1917.

She was former longtime employee of Western Auto in Franklinton and a member of San Pedro Missionary Baptist Church. Ruby enjoyed quilting and making crafts, which she often shared with her family. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers and was well known for making delicious jellies and jams.

She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Gayle A. Collier of Covington and Von Adams, Kaye and Brad Orman, all of Franklinton; three sons and daughters-in-law, A.J. and Lurline Ard of Alexandria, Heyward and Elizabeth Ard of Franklinton and Grady and Frances Ard of Hammond; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elsie Graham of Kentwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie Ard; a son, Paul Ard; a grandson, James Heyward Ard; her parents, Benton Evander Graham and Esther Rouse Graham; two sisters; and four brothers.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Burdette Thomas and Bro. Derrick Dantin officiating. Burial will follow in the San Pedro Church Cemetery.

The pallbearers are her eight grandsons, Jeff Ard, Mike Ard, Chris Ard, Russell Adams, Billy Adams, Ben Adams, Carlo Ard and Blake Orman.
