Shooting mars fair’s first night

The Franklinton Police department arrested one individual and is looking for another in relation to the Oct. 15 shooting death of 23-year-old Franklinton resident Curtis Chatman Jr. The murder took place in the 500 block of 15th Avenue.
Willie L. McClain was arrested in the case for his role in the killing. He was charged with first-degree murder. Police have also issued a first-degree murder warrant for 28-year-old Steven “Slob” Magee of Franklinton in relation to the case.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, Franklinton Police responded to several 911 calls regarding a shooting in the 500 block of 15th Avenue. That was where officers discovered Chatman suffering from several gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch. Officers performed CPR on Chatman until an ambulance arrived.
The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of McClain. Police also identified Steven Magee’s younger brother, Akeno Magee, as a person of interest in the case.
The Franklinton Police Department is asking anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of these two subjects to contact the department at 985-839-4474. Also, detectives are asking anyone who might have witnessed the homicide or events leading up to the killing to come forward.
