Rosabel Tate

Rosabel Tate was the daughter of the late Rev. Cypher and Daisey Tate. She was the youngest of 22 siblings and stayed true to her early roots. She was baptized at an early age at Crystal Springs A.M.E. Church, before moving her membership to Winan United Methodist Church in Franklinton. She later became a servant at Magee Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served until she finished her race. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1955 with great promise and a vision to continue her life of service. She was the first African-American to work in downtown Franklinton at the Boston Store. She continued her service path, when she opened an in-home Childcare Center to assist mothers who worked and needed a safe place to leave their children. Her love for children went one step further when she opened her heart and home to foster children who were in need of temporary placement as they worked through the system.

She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Cynthia Louisa Tate and Tyrone Tate.

She leaves to mourn her passing a unique and blended family with many, many relatives, including her daughters, Jackie Tate, Debra Magee and Keiarra Tate, all of Franklinton, Warren Tate of Baton Rouge, Brenda Tate of New Orleans, Tiffany Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Thelma (Robert) Hart, JoAnn Harrison, Pearlie Taylor, Patricia Taylor and Jackie (Lloyd) Hills; sons, Curtis Kendle Tate, Polanski Tate, Wayne Tate, Phillip Tate, Cecealins Tate and James Tate, all of Franklinton, John Tate of Richmond, Calif., and Curtis (Annette) Taylor Jr.; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews, special friends and well wishers.
