Fair officials deserve thanks for hard work

Another Washington Parish Free Fair has come and gone, but for those who help to organize the event every year, there is little time to pat each other on the back since planning for next year is already under way.

While the public is enjoying all that the fair has to offer, those who dedicate so much of their time to putting it on every year are already thinking about how to improve the experience next year. Putting on a five-day extravaganza like the fair is no easy task, so it is only right to take a minute to say thanks to those who make it all possible.

From the students who work so hard on their projects to those who book entertainment to the many vendors who dot the fairgrounds to the wonderful people who spend so much time getting Mile Branch Settlement just so to the law enforcement agencies who work to keep the fair safe and family friendly, thank you all for all your hard work in putting on another successful Free Fair. It takes a virtual army to make it happen, and everyone did their part.

The fair is the biggest event held in Washington Parish each year, and organizers do an admirable job not only of keeping it entertaining but also of making sure the fair stays true to its roots and does not devolve into just another faceless festival.

It is one of the major ways Washington Parish shows the world what it has to offer, and fair organizers make sure the annual celebration does just that each year.
