Sheriff’s Office captain an FBI graduate
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal announced the graduation of Capt. Tommie Sorrell from the 257th session of the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Va. Sorrell supervises the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office.
The academy session attended by Sorrell included 210 law enforcement officers from 49 states, 26 countries, three military organizations and three federal civilian organizations.
Academy acceptance is a very competitive process, which requires not only proven law enforcement excellence by the candidate but also endorsement from the candidate’s law enforcement agency.
A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degree, Sorrell has a long history of law enforcement experience with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Bogalusa Police Department. She also has served as an adjunct instructor and lecturer at area colleges.
“It was my privilege to nominate Capt. Sorrell for the FBI Academy,” Seal said. “She has a track record of excellenc,e and I knew she would be a good candidate for the rigorous Academy training. Her graduation is a testimony to her academic prowess and her skill as an investigator. It is an honor for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office to have been capably represented at the national level. Congratulations, Capt. Sorrell, on a job well done.”
