Wilton Levern “Buck” Burkhalter, age 65 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his sister, Ann Scott Bishop of Los Angeles, Calif.; 11 nieces, Ayiesha Dueoan Crain Magee, Patrice Crain, Kimberly Burk-halter, Kendra Burk-hatler, Aundrea Burk-halter, Ashantia Burkhalter-Bunch, LaShun Burkhalter-Martin, Tammika Burkhalter and Jessica Burkhalter, all of Franklinton, Kellie Burkhalter of Bogalusa and Kamila Burkhalter of California; three nephews, Deacon Christopher Burkhalter of Franklinton, Kenric Burkhalter of California and Litdell Burkhalter Jr. of North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Brisco Crain of Franklinton; one sister-in-law, Napoleon Burkhalter of California; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit Burkhalter and Dorothy Mae Watson Burkhalter; sister, Neva Mae Burkhalter Crain; four brothers, Roy Burkhalter, Kermit Burkhalter, Litdell Burkhalter and Anthony Burkhalter; brother-in-law, Issac Bishop; sister-in-law, Myrtle Burkhalter; niece, Ketho Burkhalter; and two nephews, Marshall Crain and Stephon Crain.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a family hour to follow from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton. Services will be Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Sweet Rest Baptist Church in Franklinton, with the Rev. Dr. Mallory Callahan, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Crystal Springs Cemetery in Mount Hermon. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton is in charge of arrangements.
