Officials from the Washington Parish Free Fair and various national, state, parish and city government representatives were in Bogalusa Thursday morning for the ceremonial flag raising for the Washington Parish Free Fair.

The Washington Parish Free Fair is scheduled for Oct. 15 through 18.

Fair officials who attended Thursday’s event were president Dianne Applewhite, secretary Kaye Ladner, 2014 honoree Keith Fussell, Building and Grounds Chairman Aubrey Posey and Queens Coordinator Sara St. Pierre.

The Bogalusa High School band performed before the ceremonial flag raising.

“We have a lot of new changes this year,” Applewhite said. “We’ve got more picnic tables for people to sit down and relax and enjoy our fair entertainment. “

Parmalee headlines the Oct. 15 show, while Jamie Lynn Spears is the Oct. 16 headliner. Tracy Lawrence is Friday night’s top draw, while Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. is the Saturday night headliner.

The Professional Cowboy Association Rodeo is scheduled for Oct. 18 to 20.

“Come early, stay late and have fun,” Ladner said.

Today’s flag raising in Franklinton is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the courthouse.
