Archie Vernon Stewart of Lee’s Creek Community and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church was born in 1930 and passed away Sept. 11, 2014, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Bogalusa.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie and Pearl Stewart; his parents, Vernon and Edith Stewart; a brother, Walden Stewart; and a sister, Rowena Stewart Burge.

His is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Lavada Lewis Stewart; and a son, Benjamin “Ben” Travis Stewart and wife Susan. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Stewart; and grandsons, Matthew Thomas Stewart and wife Lyndsey, and John “Jay” Wesley Stewart and wife, Marissa. He is also survived by great-grandsons Colin, Cole and Bryce Stewart; a brother-in-law, Richard Burge and wife, Brenda Burge; and sister-in-law, Linda Ayo.

Visitation will be at Brown’s Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Sept. 12, 2014, from 4 to 5 p.m. for family and 5 to 9 p.m. for family and friends. Funeral services will also be held at Brown’s Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the services.
