Ruth Byrd, born Dec. 25, 1932, passed away Sept. 8, 2014, at her residence in Picayune, Miss., at the age of 81. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by three sons, John Monroe Duncan Jr. of Andalusia, Ala., Russell Jr. (Genevieve) LaGrange of Lafayette and Donny LaGrange, also of Lafayette; two daughters, Patricia (Carl) Graham of McNeil, Miss., and Joyce L. Boutte (Kevin Eckard) of Picayune; a brother, Melvin Hunt of Picayune; and three sisters, Linda (Ricky) Duncan of Bogalusa, Jaunita Duncan (Tommy) Daniels of Watson, La., and Betty Jean (John) Erwin of Franklinton. She also has 11 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by husbands John Monroe Duncan Sr. and Russell LaGrange Sr. and a son, Chris LaGrange. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. The Rev. Leon Hickman will officiate the services to follow in the Sheridan Cemetery.
