Betty F. Miller

Betty Sue Fortenberry Miller, age 84 and a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Heritage Healthcare Center in Hammond. She was a longtime member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church and a former first-grade teacher at Mt. Hermon School for more than 30 years. Mrs. Betty enjoyed playing the piano and crocheting.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, DeShea Miller and Elizabeth Riggs Miller of Hammond; two grandchildren, Matthew Devon Miller and Emma Elizabeth Miller; a sister-in-law, Gloria Fortenberry of St. Louis, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Devon Miller; her parents, Fred Fortenberry and Bessie Lee Burch Fortenberry; a brother, Robert E. Fortenberry; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Helen Fortenberry.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until her funeral service at 11 a.m., with Dr. Joe Baugh and the Rev. Russell Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
