Alfred N. Young Sr. passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014. He was born Sept. 14, 1936, to the late Tyree and Zula Young. Alfred worked for many years as a waterfront employee with T. Smith & Sons Stevedores in New Orleans.

He married Freddie Anthony. He is survived by five children: Alfred N Young Jr., Loretta Best, George Gilbert Young, Sheryl Fair and Gregory Young Sr. He is also survived by eight siblings, Mary Eliza, Ella Rose, Catherine, Barbara, Naomi, Denver, Steve and Tyree Jr.

The viewing will be on Friday, Sept. 12, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Faith Bible Church. 1148 N. Columbia St., Covington. There will also be a viewing on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 until 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Louisiana Highway 1085,Covington. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Covington.
