Each year, the Bogalusa Daily News publishes its high school football tab, which is a way for fans to see what their favorite team looks like for the upcoming season.

The tab gives a preview for the six high school teams in Washington Parish, which includes Ben’s Ford Christian School, Bogalusa High, Bowling Green School, Franklinton High, Pine High and Varnado High.

You’ll see team photos, which were taken throughout this month, and several key players from each team will be highlighted.

The tab will also feature rosters and schedules.

This week, three teams held scrimmages. Bogalusa scrimmaged Varnado at BHS Wednesday, while Franklinton was at home against Slidell yesterday.

Tonight, the two local members of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools, Ben’s Ford and Bowling Green, open their regular season, and both are at home.

The Eagles are hosting New Orleans Home School, a team they defeated 39-6 to open last year’s campaign.

The Buccaneers are at home hosting Columbia Academy. Last year’s contest was a close one, but Bowling Green lost 13-12.

Next week, everybody is in action. Varnado is hosting a jamboree, featuring the Wildcats and Pine on Thursday.

The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m., with Pine going against East Feliciana.

After that, Varnado takes the field to battle against Northlake Christian School, which is in Covington.

Next Friday, Ben’s Ford and Bowling Green continue their regular season.

Ben’s Ford is back home, facing Amite School Center, while Bowling Green hits the road to play Oak Forest Academy.

Bogalusa and Franklinton are making the trip to Mandeville High to compete in the Skippers’ six-team jamboree.

The first game is at 5 p.m,. with Bogalusa facing Salmen. The next contest features Covington and John Curtis at 6:30, with Franklinton battling Mandeville to cap off the night at 8.

No matter who you root for, head to the ballpark and support the athletes of Washington Parish.
