James L. Sharp

James Levern Sharp, age 78 and a resident of Enon, died at 10:30 p.m. on Friday Aug. 15, 2014, at his home. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War era and a member of Sharp’s Chapel Church of God. He was a former engineer and inspector with the Louisiana Highway Department. James was a big sports fan but especially LSU and New Orleans Saints football and NASCAR. He loved gardening and watching old western movies. James was always a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Voth Sharp of Enon; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Williams and the Rev. Eric Williams of Pine; a son, Bryan Sharp of Enon; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Brittany and Cole Hunt, Joshua and Cassidy Williams, Kelsey Williams, Brandon Gerald and Jamie Nugent, Caston Gerald, Brooklynn Sharp, Brandon and Jamie Voth and Mallory Voth; two great-granddaughters, Maddie Gerald and Madison Voth; an expected great-grandson, Ares Gerald; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Austin Sharp Sr. and Ruth Anna Sharp, Flavius and Beryl Jo Sharp, Ray and Mary Ann Sharp, Kenzie and Barbara Sharp, Larry Sharp Sr. and Debra Sharp; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Bourque, Norma and Rami Mailhas and Nell and Mike Hunt; sisters-in-law Cathy Sharp and Brenda Bowen; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith Voth and Sheree Voth; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iddo and Valma Sharp, two brothers, Barney Sharp and Floyd Sharp, sister Ruth Sharp, a young brother, Howard Sharp, and brother-in-law Steve Bowen.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 18, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Eric Williams and the Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating. Burial followed in Knight Memorial Gardens in Enon.

The pallbearers were Joshua Williams, Brandon Gerald, Brandon Voth, Terry Bourque, Mike Sharp and Cole Hunt. The honorary pallbearers were Austin Sharp Jr., Kevin Sharp, Donnie Sharp, Glynn Sharp, Pax Bourque, Travis Sharp, Larry Sharp Jr., Jeremy Sharp and Ron Sharp.
