Mary Adams has announced her candidacy for re-election for the Washington Parish School Board District 5 seat.

Her announcement reads: “A lifelong resident of the Angie/Varnado community, I am married to Louis Adams. I have two daughters, Paula Thigpen Hopper and Amanda Thigpen Parker, both graduates of Varnado High School. My parents are Cora Pope and the late James Pope of Angie. I am a member of Varnado First Missionary Baptist Church. For the past 19 years, I have been manager of Varnado and Bogue Lusa Waterworks.

“I have served the past seven years on the Washington Parish School Board and would like to continue serving to help our children to get the best education possible.

“Many changes in education have taken place in the past few years, with many more on the way. With the changes, the school system is having to constantly update the policies to adapt and still give our children the best choices for their future.
