Five candidates are confirmed to attend to attend the Community Voters’ Council forum at noon Saturday on South Columbia Street in Bogalusa directly in front of the Daily News.

Council Executive Director Elbert Buckley said town marshal candidates Dewitt Williams and Willis Yarbrough both confirmed they will attend. Buckley also said City Council at-large candidate Presious Johnson, City Council District A candidate George Williams and City Council District B candidate Justin Arnold will attend the forum.

Buckley said Mayor Charles Mizell said he will try and attend. Mizell is expected to face some competition in the Nov. 4 general election by a couple of candidates who have already announced their intentions to run. They include Wendy Perrette, who is currently the Bogalusa City Council vice president, and minster Tina Ratcliff.

Candidates will speak briefly at the forum about their platform and intentions, if elected.

All candidates are invited to campaign materials for distribution. Refreshments will be served.

Qualifying for the fall election is scheduled for Aug. 20-22, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Washington Parish Clerk of Court Office.

Local races to be contested in the election include district judge, district attorney, Washington Parish and Bogalusa City school boards, justices of the peace, constables, city court judge, marshal, city prosecutor and mayor.
