as born March 7, 1929, to the late William Brumfield Sr. and Bertha Thomas Brumfield. He passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014
Myrtis was a faithful member of Crystal Springs AME Church. He was a successful farmer and entrepreneur, and he received numerous awards and accolades for his accomplishments. Myrtis valued exceptional work ethics and an excellent reputation. He imparted those same values to anyone who would listen. This was evident during his employment with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he would encourage individuals who had taken the wrong path in life that it was not too late to turn their lives around. Myrtis believed it was imperative to know local politicians and to exercise voting rights. He loved God, his family, and his community.
Myrtis leaves to cherish his loving memory two sons: Rochelle (Cherrie) Brumfield and Frazier (Sharon) Brumfield of Mt Hermon; five daughters: Myrtis Lee (Willie J) Briggs of Mt Hermon, Melodie (Michael) Leggett of Baker, La., Bertha Denise (Namon) Harris of Greenwell Springs, La., Stacey (Dr. Marvin) Trotter of Prairieville, La., and Seleana (Darin) Brumfield of Baker; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Harrell Brumfield, grandson Quincie Shepherd, parents, William and Bertha Brumfield, and siblings Hermon, Lillie, Bessie, Norma, Clifford, AJ, Wanzie, Quida, and William Jr.
