Bro. Leroy Warren Jr. was born Sept. 15, 1949, to the union of the late Leroy Warren Sr. and Vergie Lee Warren. He departed this life Aug. 5, 2014, at his sister’s home, Mary Garrett, in Franklinton.

He joined Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in 1981, and he served faithfully as a deacon and member of the hospitality ministry in New Orleans. He was a faithful witness to everyone he met. In 2005 he moved to Houston and put his membership (watch care) at Greater Hayes Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Vergie Warren Sr.; a wife, Juanita Warren; one sister, Marilyn Watson; and one stepdaughter, Denise James.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories his beloved wife, Shirley P. Warren; stepchildren, Troy D. Porter, Nicole August, Kenya Otieno and Michael James; four sisters, Mary (Keith) Garrett, Diana Brumfield, Betty (Talmus) Wilson and Kathy Brumfield; four brothers, Rodney (Stacy) Warren, Michael (Lucy Jean) Warren, Alfred (Carolyn) Warren Sr. and the Rev. Jerome (Paulette) Warren Sr.; nine step- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. Greater Hayes Church, with the Rev. Jerome Warren officiating. Interment was held in Greater Hayes Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton was in charge of arrangements. Sign the online guestbook at www.crainandsons.com.
