Approximately 100 applicants were offered employment after General Dynamics Information Technology Job Fairs held in July.
The company is hiring temporary Customer Service Representatives at $11.35 per hour. Approximately 356 applicants filled out paperwork and interviewed during the job fairs.
“We have hired 100 applicants, but we’re still going through the interview process. Quite a few have been offered jobs,” General Dynamics job recruiter Jeffery Pace said after the most recent event.
Applicants reported to the Louisiana Workforce Commission on Avenue B on recently to apply for the temporary customer service jobs.
“The way we had it set up was (applicants) filled out paperwork and then go in for an assessment,” Workforce Commission Case Manager Tammy Crain said. “After the assessment, they go and develop a General Dynamics profile if they had not done so.”
The Louisiana Workforce Commission mobile unit was set up in the Commission parking lot to complete assessments.
“We’re looking for quality people for temporary customer service positions,” Pace said. “It is a success if we get one person. People want to join the General Dynamics team.”
General Dynamics announced earlier this summer it was going to hire 598 people.
General Dynamics has two more Job Fairs scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18 and on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Louisiana Workforce Commission office.
