Christy Smith Barber, age 53 and a resident of Franklinton, died early Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at North Oaks Regional Medical Center. She worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Robert where she enjoyed the duties she had and the friends she worked with. Christy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and cherished all the fun times spent together. She was a devoted family member to her siblings, husband, children and granddaughter but had a special partner in her pet yorkie Jaxon. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Barber of Franklinton; son, Johnathon Seth Barber of Franklinton; daughter, Jessica Noelle Barber and Jessica Helgeson of Metairie; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Belinda and Richard Stogner of Franklinton; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Walker B. “Rusty” Smith III of Rio, Jeffrey Smith of Abita Springs and Tony and Brandy Leslie of Hattiesburg, Miss.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carla and Jim Rabinette of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Missy Seal and Timmy of Varnado; grandchild Anslee Christine Barber and her mother Joanna McKeithen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker B. “Buddy” Smith Jr. and Shirley Penton Smith, mother-in-law Billie Sue Barber and father-in-law Cecil Barber and grandfather Walker B. Smith Sr.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, and after 10 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Rick Elder and the Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery.
