Annie Kate Thompson

Annie Kate Thompson, age 102 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1911, to the late Mrs. Lizzie Brock and Mr. Oscar Brock. Miss Annie was born in Tylertown, Miss. and moved to Warnerton. She went to school at Star Creek Community School. At the age of 17, she married Ten Thompson, and to this union one child was born, Miss Irma Lee Thompson. Miss Annie Kate enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a kind-spirited woman. She loved children. She worked in the café in downtown Franklinton.

She was the grandmother of five, great-grandmother of 19, great-great-grandmother of 37 and great-great-great-grandmother of nine. She had one goddaughter, JoEllen Brock; one godson, Lionell Vernon; one great-nephew, Charles (Toni) Green, who she loved dearly; and a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Irma Lee Brock; her husband, Ten Thompson; her daughter, Irma Lee Thompson; seven brothers, Rodney Brock, Bluma Brock, William Brock, Tot Brock, Ed Brock, Bill Brock and Jerome Brock; two sisters, Rosa Brock and Ruth Vernon; one granddaughter, Linda Majors; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Ann Jones; and one great-great-granddaughter, Shamekia Jones.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 5, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church in Franklinton, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., with Rev.
