Robert Junius Pigott, age 91 and a resident of Bogalusa, was born on March 30, 1923, in Bogalusa and passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Rest-haven Living Center in Bogalusa.

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a 50-year mason. He retired from Tembec Corp. of St. Francisville. He was a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Varnado.

He is survived by one daughter, Hazel Marie (Steve) Marshall of Varnado; one son, Robert R. (Lyn) Pigott of Bogalusa; nine grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Wheat, Nancy Pace, Bobbi Jo (Troy) Breland, R. Douglas (Shelia) Pigott, Mike (Lisa) Richard, Kevin (Dauphne) Richard, Wynn (Michelle) Galloway, Aimee (Johnny) Hill and Joel Galloway; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; three special cousins, Vernon Thomas of Bogalusa, Claudette (Charles) Sumrall of Slidell and Hayward (Dody) Boone of Varnado; and a special friend and neighbor, Pauline and the late John Hill.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meita Applewhite Pigott; his second wife, Aline Williams Pigott; a son, Vencie Ray Pigott; a daughter, Paula Galloway; his parents, Robert Reid Pigott Sr. and Cora Pittman Pigott; and two sisters, Ester Varisco and Earline Williams.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m., with Masonic Services at 7 p.m.

Visitation was also held at First Missionary Baptist Church in Varnado on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Bro Nelson Bracey and Bro. Kelly Penton officiated, with interment held at Mt. Olive Cemetery and military graveside services by the Magic City American Legion Post No. 24.

Active Pallbearers were Mike Richard, Robert Boone, Wynn Galloway, Wendell Cook, R. Douglas Pigott and Joel Galloway.

Honorary Pallbearers were Hayward Boone, Murphy Kennedy, Gussie Magee, Leroy “Slick” Seal and Leon Seal.
