Cecilia Louise Richerson James

Cecilia Louise Richerson James, age 66, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Mrs. James was a resident of rural Alexandria, La. She was born Jan. 15, 1948, in Bogalusa, the daughter of Cecil H. Richerson and Louise Adams Richerson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria and will resume Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service in Hixson Brothers Chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Roney and the Rev. Jimmy Koonce officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery of Forest Hill, La.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Richerson, Clay Cook, Gary Kurtz, Brandon Holloway, Terry Deville, Bill Stewart, Charlie Hol-loway and Vernon Linzay. Hon-orary pallbearers will be Mark James Chaney, Bobby James, Claude Holloway, Carl Holloway and Clyde Holloway.

After graduating from Bogalusa High School in 1966, she attended Louisiana College, obtaining a degree in English and math education. While at Louisiana College, she met her husband, Clyde Lea James, and they lived in Alexandria for their 44 years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed life in her community and church. She later obtained her Master’s Degree plus 30 at LSU. She taught at Bolton High School, Wettermark High School, Poland Junior High and Plainview High School, where she was an assistant principal. She retired from Alexandria Middle Magnet in 2003.

Cecile was an active member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church in Bogalusa during her early years. Later in Alexandria she was an active member at Riverview Baptist Church, where she served on the Social Committee, volunteered at Vacation Bible School and supported state, national and international mission work. In recent years, she actively supported Homewood Baptist Church by helping with Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday school and helping with other activities.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Clyde Lea James; daughter and son-in-law, Cecily and Jack Moore of San Marcos, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Christopher Brooks of Alexandria; three granddaughters, Eva Moore of San Marcos, Lillyfaith Brooks of Alexandria and Daisylynn Brooks of Alexandria; her brother and his wife, Dr. Russell B. Richerson and Mary Lou of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces, Dr. Katherine Gillaspy of Tucson, Dr. Lindsay Richerson of Phoenix and Madeline Richerson of Golden, Colo.; and a host of cousins and extended family. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil H. Richerson and Louise Adams Richerson.
