As the Centennial Jubilee celebration approaches, city officials have tweaked the Centennial schedule of events.

Ladies/Men’s Day was slated for Tuesday, July 1, at Bogalusa Country Club. That event, however, was replaced by Senior Day starting at 10 a.m. at the Washington Parish Council on Aging on Willis Avenue near Cassidy Park.

For the June 29 Faith of our Fathers Day event, a fifth Sunday singing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Cassidy Park stage. That day’s events also include the South Border Stroll Through the Past from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Centennial celebration concludes with a bang on July 4 as the city celebrates its 100-year anniversary.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Cassidy Park. Activities include speakers on the main stage, opening of the 1989 time capsule and the processional of 100 children.

Pioneer and Heritage Day is 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 30, in the park. Pioneer demonstrations and storytelling are scheduled for the pioneer museum.

On July 3, Hospitality Day at City Hall is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include burial of the 2014 time capsule.

Then the Paper Queen Ball at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Home will wrap up the penultimate day’s events.

Activities on the Fourth of July begin with a 10 a.m. parade. Food vendors will be available in the park. Watermelon Festival winners will be announced and speakers take the stage at 2:30 p.m. at the park’s main stage, followed by musical entertainment on the main stage. Turtle races are scheduled for 4 p.m. Activities conclude at 8 p.m. with a fireworks extravaganza.
