Patricia Ann Wilkens Herron, born Dec. 27, 1942, passed away June 8, 2014, at her residence in Slidell at the age of 71. She was a correctional officer/secretary for Rayburn Correctional Institute for more than 20 years and also coached for the Northeast Athletics Association for 12 years.                                                                                                           

She is survived by a son, Brian Applewhite of Slidell, a daughter, Dawn Alford-Magee of Franklinton, a sister, Dianna Wilkens McMillan of Sulphur, two grandchildren, Jonathan and Justin Alford, and several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrthy and Dorothy Seals Wilkens, her husband, James Herron, and a brother, Myrthy Daniel Wilkens Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume after 8 a.m. Thursday until service time at 10 a.m. Services will be conducted by Chaplain David E. Diamond, with the interment to follow in the Ponemah Cemetery.
