On June 5, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Lisa Ann Bickham, 33, a resident of Bennie Morris Road in Franklinton, charging her with burglary of the Franklinton Country Club.
WPSO Sgt. Robert Harris, the investigator who responded to the reported burglary, stated that country club officials had reported the theft of $1,730.30 in cash plus several checks that were made payable to the country club as deposits for future events. Harris and patrol Lt. Warren Vallaire discovered damage that had been done to parts of the building, filing cabinet contents that had been disturbed and boxes of candy and snacks that had been scattered on the floor. There was no evidence, however, of an actual break in.
Suspecting that the reported burglary actually was staged to cover theft by an employee, Harris brought in Maj. Thomas Mitchell of the Rayburn Correctional Center to administer polygraph exams to two employees, one of whom was Bickham. Bickham failed her polygraph exam and then asked to speak to Harris in private. She admitted her guilt and acknowledged she was having personal financial issues.
Bickham was placed in the Washington Parish Jail and released Friday on a $10,000 bond.
