Looking back from the future

Bogalusa’s Centennial Jubilee celebration will include the burying of a time capsule, and citizens can have a say in what items will be preserved within it.
A time capsule buried 25 years ago at a site at Bogalusa City Hall will be unearthed June 22, as part of the opening ceremonies.
The contents of that Diamond Jubilee time capsule, which was buried in 1989, reportedly include photos, letters, an old pay phone and other surprises.
Personnel Director Sandy Bloom said the city is now seeking suggestions for a time capsule that will be buried at the same location on July 3, the Centennial’s Hospitality Day.
The new time capsule will be opened 25 years from now, and Bloom said the goal will be to give people a glimpse of what daily life was like in 2014. Anyone with suggestions can contact Bloom or Judy Gray at 732-4397 or post that information on the Bogalusa Centennial Jubilee Facebook page.
