MONDY
Ira Nell Mondy was born Dec. 1, 1933, and departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2014.
She was the oldest child of 10 siblings. Ira Nell was raised up as a member of the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Brown and continued faithfully under the Rev. Raymond Mims. Ira Nell was married to Artis Mondy, and to this union was born four children.
Ira Nell leaves behind to cherish her memory: two daughters, Maude Eddings of Memphis, Tenn. and Cathy Gholar of Bogalusa; one son, Broderick (Rosie) Mondy of Memphis; one sister, Jerry (McIntosh) Taylor of Pinola, Miss.; four faithful sisters-in-law, Doris Armstrong of Memphis, Katherine Armstrong of Las Vegas, Barbara Armstrong of Lubbock, Texas and Cheryl Diane Armstrong of Bogalusa; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, faithful neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Rosie Armstrong; husband, Artis Mondy; one child, Joycelyn Mondy; and five brothers, John, Eddie, Wilton, Charles and James Armstrong.
Visitation will be Monday, May 12, from 9 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, with Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims officiating. Interment will be held in the Bogalusa Cemetery in Bogalusa. Please sign the guestbook at www.crainandsons.com.
