Eddie Earl Thompson, a retired Secret Service agent and barbershop owner, departed this life Friday, April 25, 2014, at the age of 73.
He leaves to cherish his life and memory his wife of 48 years, Mellon Ruth Peters; his oldest daughter, Erica Monique Thompson of DeSoto, Texas; one son, Eric Earl (Demetra) Thompson of Arlington, Texas; his baby girl, Erinn Thompson-Griggs (Marcus) of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Geraldine (Floyd) Simon of Frisco, Texas; three brothers-in-law, Michael Peters, Ricky Peters of Detroit, Mich. and Darrell Peters; three sisters-in-law, Beverly (Thedrick) Wolf of Inkster, Mich., Jeannette (Ray) Brown of Wichita, Kansas and Debbie Peters of New Orleans. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Taylor Joy and Eric LaSalle Thompson, Mia, Morgan and Kennedy Griggs; two devoted aunts, Elizabeth Thompson Burrell of Houston, Texas, Gladys Thompson (Jerry) James of Baton Rouge; one devoted uncle, Albert Jessie Thompson of Houston; a godchild, Devonte’ Lewis; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Relatives and friends of the family, as well as employees and former employees of United States Secret Service, residents of the Wilmbedon Association, classmates of Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa, N.O.B.L.E., Orleans Parish Public Schools, members of Grand Lodge of the Masons, Plata Temple #15 and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority are invited to attend the funeral service at DW Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. in New Orleans, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1 p.m., to be preceded by visitation beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
