AMACKER
Darol E. Amacker Sr., 81, a resident of Enon died shortly after midnight Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
Born on Oct. 7, 1932, he was a former resident of Covington, where he resided for 40 years, and a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Along with his family, Darol was the owner/operator of A&G Quick Shop in Enon for the past 12 years. For many years he had been a musician, drummer and vocalist, and he loved going camping, often at a favorite spot near Wiggins, Miss.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Galloway Amacker of Enon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Gary Pittman of Enon and Debra Haley and Malcolm Haley Sr. of Bogalusa; a son and daughter-in-law, Darol D. Amacker and Karen Amacker of Covington; eight grandchildren and spouses, Peter Gonsoulin, Nick and Tori Gonsoulin, Malcolm L. Haley II, Jessica and Gary O’Keefe, Mathew and Amanda Haley, Dirk and Amanda Amacker, Lorad Amacker and Brad Hawkins and Sarah Tynes; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Amacker and Aarolyn Amacker of Saucier, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Seth Eual Amacker and Angie Jervis Amacker; a brother, Edward James Amacker; a sister, Violet Amacker Davis; and nephew, Reginald Davis.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 26, at Crain Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m., and will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Knight Memorial Gardens in Enon.
Pallbearers are Peter Gonsoulin, Nick Gonsoulin, Mathew Haley, Jamie Amacker, Michael Amacker and Codie O’Keefe.
