Bogalusa Chamber raffle

A pair of Saints season Club-level seats, with parking included, will be raffled by the Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce in a drawing to be held the last week of July. The package is valued at $5,700. The seats are located in Section 315, Row 17, Seats 19 and 20.

Raffle tickets are $25 and available at the chamber office, 608 Willis Ave. Only 500 will be sold. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 735-5731 or email bogalusachamber@bellsouth.net.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus will host a luncheon for parish senior citizens Sunday, May 11, following the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church. Depending on the turnout, the lunch will be either at Dobyns Center or the school cafeteria. Those planning to attend should contact Val Haaga at 732-4353 so plans can be finalized.

Reuben Adams Cemetery

The annual meeting of the Rueben Adams Cemetery will be held Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in the business and upkeep of the cemetery is encouraged to attend. Donations will be accepted. For additional information, call 732-7401.

Memorial Day service

The Washington Republican Parish Executive Committee will conduct its second annual Memorial Day remembrance service at noon on Monday, May 26 at Poole’s Bluff Landing at the military memorial recently completed. Plans call for a special speaker, recitation, a solo, group singing and playing of Taps. The public is invited to attend, and to wear red, white and blue.

Free AARP webinar

“The Secrets to Writing a Good Business Plan” will be divulged in a free webinar hosted by AARP on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Anyone who is considering developing a small business plan will have the opportunity to find out the elements to include, such as sources of financing and marketing ideas, as well as learn why it is important to have a plan for a small business.

The one-hour webinar features experts from the Small Business Administration to help people over 50 get their small business up and running.

Centennial Gala set for May 3

The Centennial Gala celebrating Bogalusa’s Centennial Jubilee this year will be held Saturday, May 3, from 7-11 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Louisiana 10 in Lakeview.

Entertainment for the event will be provided by the Pearl River County Community Band and The Victory Belles.

Tickets are on sale now. Singles are $50, couples $75 and a table is $600.

Italian-American Club

Members of the Italian-American Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday in Dobyns Center. Those interested in joining the IAC should contact any member of the club.

LSU Health exercise program

“We Run This Town” is an exercise program that has been incorporated to help patients become more active and improve the prognosis of chronic disease, according to Dr. Keisha Harvey of the LSU Family Medicine Department, which remained a part of the LSU Health System when the hospital transitioned to become Our Lady of the Angels.

Harvey said the program, which features walking and/or running, will cater to an individual’s fitness level.

The program, which began April 7, continues every Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Goodyear Park.

Youth dancercise at YMCA

A youth dancercise program co-sponsored by LSU Family Medicine and the YMCA is an exercise class designed to encourage young individuals and their families to become more active.

Harvey said the goal of this program is to raise awareness concerning childhood obesity and ways to fight it. The program, which began April 8, continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Avenue B YMCA.

Participants should be between the ages of 8-16. Parents are welcome to come.

Council on Aging picnic

The Council on Aging’s annual meeting and picnic will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds in Franklinton. Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a faith-based program designed to offer hope and deliverance for anyone struggling with hurts, hang-ups or habits, through Jesus Christ. Issues such as addiction, bulimia, gambling, death, anorexia, abuse and anger are just some of the many topics addressed. YouthBuild Bogalusa

YouthBuild Bogalusa is now accepting applications and will conduct TABE testing on Wednesday and Thursday. Young adults interested in enrolling in the program should contact Melissa Jarrell at 732-6873 to register and confirm testing time.

YBB is an educational program for youth ages 16-24 that have not completed high school. YBB offers opportunities in GED, carpentry, mentoring, AmeriCorps and life skills.

YMCA craft show/yard sale

The YMCA on Avenue B will host a craft show and yard sale Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. To rent space for the event, call Toni or Bobbye at the YMCA at 732-3741. Spaces will rent for $15 until May 1.

All proceeds from space rental and concessions will be donated to breast cancer research.

Pushepatapa OES meeting

The Pushepatapa chapter of the Eastern Star Chapter 239 meets second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Center Lodge 244 F&AM in Bogalusa.
