Bogalusa Main Street Manager Robin Day and her committee of volunteers invite everyone to experience downtown after hours during the Rendezvous on the Road series, which will take place every fourth Friday of the month through August, beginning this Friday.

The series is so named because the city’s Main Street is the heart of Columbia Street, which was historically called “the road,” Day said.

As it continues a revitalization effort to attract more customers and commerce, the Main Street Committee is stepping up by offering visitors more opportunities to get together, patronize the businesses and experience the arts, culture and entertainment.

The Rendezvous is offered free of charge and will include live music, art, food and libations, Day said. The street will not be blocked to traffic.

The music, provided by Jon Sorey and Al Daquin, will take place in the pocket park site on the east side of the 400 block. Libations will be offered for free at that location, and the Cypress Café, just across the street, will be open for business.

“I’ve also invited all Washington Parish artists to display their work,” Day said. “It’s not an art festival, but an art walk.”

Although there is no charge, donations will be accepted to help fund other events, she said

The Rendezvous is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, May 23, June 27, July 25 and Aug. 22.
