The Last Supper with Jesus and the Apostles was actually a Jewish Passover. In a presentation called “Christ in the Passover,” Maxim Ammosov of Jews for Jesus will re-create the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus’ death and resurrection. The event will be held at Isabel Baptist Church Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Ammosov will set a table with items traditionally used at the Passover meal and detail their spiritual significance. He will also explain the connection between the events of the first Passover in Egypt and the redemption that Jesus accomplished, as well as the deep bond between the ancient Passover feast and the Christian communion celebration of today. Following the presentation, Ammosov will be happy to answer questions.
Jews for Jesus has presented “Christ in the Passover” at more than 38,000 churches, where it has been received enthusiastically by Christians who appreciate learning more about the Jewish background of their faith.
The founder of Jews for Jesus, Moishe Rosen, has co-written the book, “Christ in the Passover,” with his wife, Ceil. In it, Passover in ancient times and how it is practiced today are compared. The book, as well as a DVD of the “Christ in the Passover” presentation (moderated by David Brickner, executive director of Jews for Jesus), will be available for purchase after the presentation.
Brickner, a fifth-generation Jewish believer in Jesus who succeeded Rosen as executive director in 1996, has expanded and established branches in 11 countries, including the United States, Israel, Brazil, France, South Africa and Russia.
“We exist to make the Messiahship of Jesus an unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide,” Brickner said.
