Baton Rouge residents William Henry Robbins and Mary Ann Kennedy Robbins recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Texas hill country.
The couple was united in marriage in Angie on Friday, Jan. 10, 1964, in a ceremony performed by Dr. A.W. Robbins at Angie Baptist Church.
Joining the couple for the special celebration were their three sons and their wives, Will and Shari of Baton Rouge, Robb and Shelley of Frisco, Texas, and Jeff and Noelle of Lebanon, Penn. Their grandchildren, Cole, Cameron and Cassie of Baton Rouge, Emery, Jude and Sage of Frisco, and Charlie and Rose-Marie of Lebanon also came for the special weekend. In addition, Mrs. Robbins’ sister, Sarah Kuhn, and her husband, Wayne, of Franklinton, also joined them for the occasion.
A beautiful gazebo on the shore of Lake Palestine near Flint, Texas, was the setting for the ceremony, conducted by their son, Jeff, and which included the renewal of their vows. Their other two sons, Robb and Will, also participated in the ceremony, reading scripture and providing music. The four granddaughters were lovely flower girls, wearing matching dresses and carrying mixed floral bouquets. The younger grandsons were junior groomsmen.
A reception followed the ceremony, hosted by the couple’s children, and featured a beautiful 50th anniversary cake topped with the original bride and groom. The children shared humorous memories and a memorable slide show.
