Members of the Bogalusa Italian-American Cultural Society extend an invitation to the public to join in celebrating its 40th St. Joseph’s Altar on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15, at the B&C Hall (formerly KC Hall), 139 Cumberland Street in Bogalusa.
Members have been busy planning for the event and preparing Italian cookies and other delicacies to be placed on the Altar as an offering and thanksgiving to St. Joseph. Italians honor and venerate St. Joseph, the Foster Father of Jesus, for his prayerful intercession.
The altar is laden with various cookies, cakes, breads, vegetables and pignolatti, as well as a myriad of other delicacies. These will be served to those representing Saints and to the public during the two-day observance of the Feast of St. Joseph.
The public will be greeted and welcomed on Friday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. for the opening of the altar. At 7 p.m. Father Patrick Collum, pastor of Annunciation Cathloic Church, will bless the altar, followed by the recitation of the rosary. After the rosary, Italian cookies and wine will be served to the public.
On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the rosary and special St. Joseph’s prayer will be prayed. The “Feeding of the Saints” Ceremony will follow at approximately 11 a.m. At noon, the main meal of Pasta Milanese, vegetables, bread, and wine will be served to the public.
All are welcome.
